About Us

Our Vision

The mission of Washington Avenue Baptist Church is the same mission Jesus gave his followers: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Our hope for you is that you come to an understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, namely that you are someone who has surrendered control of your life to Jesus, are becoming more like Him, and are calling others to do the same.

Getting to know each other

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at The Avenue a great one!

  • Avenue Kids: 6:00pm and a free meal is provided
  • Adults: Rotating Groups and Classes meet beginning at 6:00pm.

What can I expect?

HOW LONG IS A SERVICE AT THE AVENUE?

In total, a service at The Avenue is about 60-75 minutes in length. Our Classic Service begins with hymn singing with hymnals, followed by the teaching portion of the service. Our Modern Service begins with the our band leading the church in music that incorporates modern worship music with hymns- song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of service is complete, one of our pastors will come out to share a gospel-centered message.

WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT THE AVENUE?

Sundays at The Avenue are casual and relaxed. Our first priority is that you come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.

WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?

We believe that kids should have a blast at church every single week – and at The Avenue, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our Avenue Kids program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in for the Avenue Kids experience. Kids ministry is offered at every for kids ages infant through Grade 6.
